Nancy Jeannine Brown "Jay" was born on July 19, 1936 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She met her future husband Tom Brown in Kansas while he was stationed there in the Navy and they moved to Pittsburg, CA shortly after. They had one daughter Tammie Rene Brown. She worked as a retail clerk at Thrifty's and at McFaul's gift shop in downtown Pittsburg. She later owned her own Travel Agency, Time to Travel.
Jay enjoyed traveling both in the US and globally, having good times with family and friends, cooking, and watching the 49ers.
Survived by her grandchildren Cecil and Laura Abono, brother Robert Forney, niece Robin Criswell, nephew Robert Brown, her Siino and Belleci family members, longtime friend and helper Marty Surfus, and all those who knew her as Grandma Brown or Auntie Jay. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Hartman Forney, former husband Tom Brown, daughter Tammie Abono, and son-in-law Gary Abono.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral liturgy Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd. Committal services following at Oakview Memorial Park, Antioch.
