Grace Kildal, age 84, of Fosston, MN passed away on Saturday, October 17th at First Care Hospital in Fosston. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23rd at 2:00 PM at Hope Lutheran Church in Fosston with Rev. Paul Magelssen officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home in Fosston, and there will also be reviewal for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Fosston, and the Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston is in charge of the arrangements. Sympathy messages can be sent to carlinhoialmen.com.

Grace Rosella Myhrum was born January 5, 1925 to parents Melvin and Minnie (Haltli) Myhrum in Fosston, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Grace graduated form Fosston High School in 1944. She worked for Pastor T.H. Megorden and family at the Hope Church Parsonage.

Grace met Elden Kildal in 1948 while working at the Minne-Wa-Kan Bible Camp. They were united in marriage on April 24, 1949 at Hope Church Parsonage. They made their home in Fosston until 1959 when they moved to a farm north of town.

She was employed by the Fosston Public Schools for 21 years as a school health aide. She also worked for Johnson Rest Home for several years. Grace enjoyed reading, gardening, photography, fishing, playing card games and watching the Minnesota Twins. She loved making quilts; every child, grandchild, great grandchild and many other relatives have received one. Grace was proud of her Norwegian heritage, displayed by her excellent lefse making. She was often called upon to research genealogy and translate Norwegian. Family history was important to her by all the pictures and information she collected.

Grace was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church— teaching, making homemade soap with “Millie” Yergens, organizing confirmation pictures with Bette Sather and “Ladies Aid”. She was also a 4-H leader.

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, Grace passed away at First Care Hospital in Fosston at the age of 84 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Wayne) Omundson of Fosston and Patti (Tim) Brosseau of Bottineau, ND; one son, Bruce (Debbie) Kildal of Crookston; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, Rodney Myhrum of Moorhead; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elden in 1967; her parents; and an infant granddaughter.
