Helen graduated from Dunbar High School Mayfield, KY 1941. She attended Knoxville College where she met and married her love Norvin June Adamson. To this union 4 children where born. Helen and family moved to Bridgeton and she finished her education at Glassboro State College in Elementary Education.
She began her teaching career with the Bridgton School District, and taught in Port Norris, Gouldtown and retired after 40 years at Myron L. Powell Elementary School in Cedarville. Helen was a active member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Ionic Chapter #15 Order of Eastern Star PHA, Youth Felicitares and NJEA. For 50 years she was a faithful and active member of St. John United Methodist Church Fordville.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son Norvin E. “Zip” Adamson, daughters L. Marie Cook and Pamela Helen Adamson, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a step sister Perline Davis, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Novin J., a son Terry L. “Butch”, a granddaughter Michelle Renee Cook and grandson Derrick Matthew Adamson.
Services will be held Monday at 1PM at the St. John United Methodist Church Fordville, with Pastor Roy Bundy, officiating. Interment will be in Fordville Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Monday 11am-1pm.
