Steven F. Pittman
AGE: 85 • Lakewood

Steven F. Pittman, 85, of Lakewood, departed this world and entered his eternal rest with the Lord Jesus Christ Monday, April 23, 2012.

He was the beloved husband of Hedy Pittman, who went to be with the Lord March 12, 2006, and the loving father of two sons, Frederick and Robert.

For many years, Steve, who was born in Brooklyn, grew up in England and returned to the United States after serving his country of birth in the U.S. Army during World War II - owned and operated Pittman Television in Westbury, New York. A sergeant in the Army's 94th Infantry Division (Battle of the Bulge) when he was honorably discharged in 1947, Steve was among the many young American GIs to purchase a home in Levittown on Long Island. There, he and Hedy raised their young sons before the family moved to Woodbury. After Steve's retirement, he and Hedy moved to Lakewood.

He is survived by his two sons, Frederick (Brenda) of Newark, N.Y., and Robert of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He has two grandchildren, Cynthia Pittman and Brian (Brittany) Pittman, both of Asheville, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Tyler and Skyler Pittman.

Friends and relatives may visit from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday, April 30 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. The funeral service will be from noon to 1. Internment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown. The Rev. Dr. Trevor Harvey, pastor of Trinity Community Church in the Bronx, will officiate at both services.
