Kathryn Lenora Rex, 88, went home to our Lord on May 11th, 2013 surrounded by her flowers - as she called her family members. She was born to the late Roy G. and Bessie C. (Adkins) Swank in Olive Green, Ohio on November 22, 1924. She married Wayne R. Rex on June 25, 1940.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Carl L. Rex; sisters, Margaret, Mildred, and Ruth; and a brother, Roy W. Swank.

Kathryn provided a loving home for her family, filled with laughter and joy. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, shown in pictures on the walls and table tops of her home. Her radiant smile showed the inner light and love that abounded here. She was an excellent seamstress, cook, baker, and homemaker. Her beautiful hands prepared many meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of recipes, and was known for her inability to let anyone travel without a good stock of homemade treats. As kind to animals as she was to humans, she doted on the daily company of her son Roy's dog, Katie. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, reading, emailing and Skyping her family, as well as games of Back Up 3 and euchre. She loved watching the birds come to her feeders. Kathryn was baptized in February 1966. Beginning in October, 2007, She attended Porterfield Baptist Church in Little Hocking, and enjoyed listening again to the sermon on her computer at home. Mother was such a kind, loving, and generous woman who walked as a faithful follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her siblings Sarah, Pearl, Jim, Don, and Doris; daughters Donna Davenport, Ruth Rex, Karen (Steve) Lutz and Kathy (Catherine Parham) Rex and son Roy Rex; her grandchildren, Rick, Dave, Jane, Marsha, Holly, Miles, Jason, Greg, Liz, Kathryn, Cassie, and Matt; great-grandchildren, Rick Jr., Michael, Cory, Kerry, Ashley, Morgan, Anthony, Alex, Chris, Andrea, Shawna, Owen Brianna, Chelsie, Chase, Thomas, and Leah; and great-great-grandchildren Makilah, Gabriella, Jackson, Max, Harper, and Zoey.

Though we will greatly miss this precious woman, we are consoled by knowing that the best part of her life lies ahead - stored up for her in heaven.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. -Psalms 116:15 KJV

A family service will be held at Porterfield Baptist Church. Pastor Mark Eaton will officiate.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Porterfield Baptist Church.
