Gertrude Amy Dieter was born March 19, 1896 in Fairfax, Minn., where she received her education. She attended Steven Seminary in Glencoe, Minn. She taught shcool until her marriage to Edward Dehning Feb. 2 1918. They owned and operated a produce company in Montevideo, Minn., and later purchased Brookings Produce. Her husband died Oct. 13, 1954, in Brookings.
She continued to operate the produce business until 1958 when she moved to Minnesota. She married Harris Bairey in 1970. He died in April of 1987. She entered the nursing home in January of 1987.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, a pas member of the Tentaka Chapter of Rebecca's in Brookings, and the Mariam Chapter No. 27 of the Order of the Easter Star.
Survivors include five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Services begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Brookings, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery in Brookings.
Visitation begins Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings, and prior to services at the church.
