Bradley Joseph "B.J." Babin, justice of the peace for 12 years, a notary and a retired maintenance worker for BASF for 27 years, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor in Baton Rouge. He was 83, a native of Duplessis and a resident of Gonzales. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in World War II. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Monday, Dec. 29, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitation resumes in the chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Fernando Gutierrez. Burial with military honors in Hope Haven Cemetery, Prairieville. Survived by his daughter, Beth Babin, Gonzales; three sons, Danny and wife Joan Babin, Baton Rouge, Randy and wife Cheryl Babin, Prairieville, and Brett and Kat Babin, Gonzales; a sister, Bridgett LeBlanc, Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Marie Gautreau Babin; parents, Mitchell O. and Elodie Berteau Babin; two sisters, Jenny Trabeau and Lucy Altazin; and three brothers, Sidney "Snap," Felman "Crip" and Janson "John" Babin. Pallbearers will be Josiah Babin, Jeremy Babin, Michael Babin, Derek Babin, Denny Babin, Donald Babin, Evan Gutierrez and Dean Smith.
