Carl Abernathy Dead
Died This Morning at 2:30 at His Home at El Paso, Texas.
Relatives in this city this morning received the sad news of the death of Carl Abernathy, which occurred at El Paso this morning at 2:30. His death was brought about by a severe cold recently contracted and which developed into pneumonia. His system was in a weakened condition as a result of that most dreaded of all diseases, consumption, and when attacked by pneumonia, the enfeebled body could not stand the terrible ravages.

Carl Abernathy was born and reared in Bonham, but for the last few years has been living at El Paso. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Abernathy, one of the city’s most prominent families. His mother, sister Miss Kittie, and two of his brothers, Edgar and Raleigh, are at present living in that city. His other brother, Neil, resides in this city.

A better, nobler young man than Carl Abernathy never lived in Bonham. Sober, steady and reliable, the future held great promise e for him, and even while knowing that he must in the end succumb to his incurable malady, he was at all times brave and cheerful, bearing with a Christian fortitude his sorrows.

Carl had numerous friends in Bonham who will mingle their tear and regrets with those of his bereaved family and hosts of other relatives at his untimely demise, cut down as it were in the very flower of his youth, when the world and its possibilities were before him. May God give his soul the rest in heaven that his poor body was not allowed on earth.

The corpse will be shipped from El Paso to this city for burial, and will probably arrive here Thursday at noon.
