Harold Vincent "Tiny: Harned, 89, followed his last flight plan to eternal life on August 11, 2014 at Nelson Manor in Newton, under the care of Hospice.

Funeral service for Tiny will be at a later date at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Deacon Dan Goetz officiating. A visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In LIEU of flowers memorials are being designated to; Shriner's Hospital or St. Jude's Hospital. Burial will be in the Veteran's Section, at Newton Union Cemetery.

Tiny, the son of David Louis and Julia Ann (Barry) Harned, was born September 19, 1924, near Atchison, Kansas, the youngest of thirteen children. He graduated from the Atchison Senior High School, Class of 1942. Tiny served his country during World War II, with the 2532nd Army Air Force Base Unit. On February 15, 1946, Tiny was united in marriage with Ethel June Harper, at Ft. Sam Huston in San Antonia, TX. To this union was born three children: Vincent, Susan and James.

Tiny's career included working as a pilot and mechanic with Martin School of Flying, Marsh Aviation in Walla Walla, WA; Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle, WA; and Johnson Aviation in Newton, IA. He taught aircraft mechanics and Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, IA. He joined Winpower in 1969 as pilot- Sales and Service Correspondent and retired as the Sales Manager Export Department. After retiring, Tiny started Harned Rental and spent many years in the storage rental business. Tiny devoted his life to his family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post #111 and of the Catholic faith.

Those left to honor Tiny's memory include his son, Vincent Harned (Ann) of Oskaloosa; his daughter, Susan (Jim) Jarchow of Dubuque; his son, James Harned (Rebecca) of Newton; his ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and his many friends

Tiny was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June on January 26, 2008, and all of his brothers and sisters.
