BRINKMAN, DOROTHY MARGUERITE - Dorothy M. Brinkman, R.N., 88 of Grand Falls, N.B. passed away peacefully at Nanaimo, B.C. on Friday, September 10, 2004 after a long illness. She leaves to mourn her husband, Emmett J Burgess, her son Aubrey (Barbara) Brinkman, Gold River, B.C., daughter Deborah Brinkman, Duncan, B.C., brothers, Edwin (Jean) Lyon, Saanichton, B.C., Vaughn (Rita) Lyon, Glassville, N.B., and two grandchildren, Wendy (August) VanBarneveld, Houston, B.C., Jacqui Brinkman, Vancouver, B.C., one great grandson, Aeden Aubrey VanBarneveld, two sisters-in-law, Nora and Edna, several nieces and nephews. Born at Glassville, N.B., she was predeceased by her parents Albert Lyon and Dorothy Ann Guthrie, first husband, Aubrey Richard Brinkman, formerly of New Denmark and Grand Falls., sister Helen, Mrs. Roy Duff, Presque Isle,Maine, brothers Robert (Edna) Lyon, Glassville, Dean (Marjorie) Lyon, Donald (Nora) Lyon, Florenceville, Glenn (Eleanor) Lyon, Portland, Oregon. Dorothy graduated as an R.N. at the Madagan Hospital in Houlton, Maine, after specialized training in nursing at St. Michaels in Toronto, Buffalo General, and Foundling Hospital, New York City. She nursed in Toronto, Saint John, Bath, and Grand Falls. She was a dedicated nurse and was dearly loved by her patients. Funeral service will be held at All Saints Anglican Church in Grand Falls on Saturday, September 18th at 2.00 pm, with Pastor Julie Armstrong will conduct the service. Interment following at St. Ansgars Anglican Cemetery in New Denmark beside her first husband Aubrey. By request, no flowers. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or donor's choice. Family will receive friends at a reception at St. Ansgars Hall following interment. Local arrangements are by O'Regan's Funeral Home (473-3063). www.oregans.ca
