Georgia Melhorn, age 91, a resident of Spring, TX, and formerly of Coalfield, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Autumn Leaves Health Care Center.Mrs. Melhorn was born June 7, 1923 in Coalfiled. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Texas and made her home with her son. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and she served the Oliver Springs chapter as the Worthy Matron. Georgia retired from the Morgan County School System following her employment with the Morgan County Head Start Program. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Melhorn, by her parents; Lee H. Jackson and Ethel Webster Jackson, by a daughter-in-law, Patsy Melhorn, by sisters; Bonnie, Catherine and Margaret Jackson, Ruth and Irene Davis, Beatrice Walls, Helen Brooks and Maxine Hassle. Mrs. Melhorn is survived by her son, Randel L. Melhorn and wife Suzette of Spring, TX, by grandchrildren; Lee Ann Denny and husband Matthew and Chris Poole and wife, Mary Jane of Spring, TX, by a brother-in-law, Ralph Melhorn and wife, Yvonne of Wartburg, by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 13, 2014, between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 pm, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 7:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mack Smith officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014, at 11:00 am, at Estes Cemetery, in Coalfield.
