Rita Maria Dörwald Helms, 83, of Albemarle passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Carolinas Specialty Hospital in Pineville.
Her funeral service will be a 2 PM graveside service on Wednesday August 13th, 2014 in the Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Preacher Brantley Moore. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM.
Born March 24, 1931 in Oporto, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Max Dörwald and Anna Sears Dörwald and was a retired seamstress. She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, Indian Trail.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dowd M. Helms on Dec. 3, 1998.
Survivors include daughter Shirley Helms Shaver of Albemarle, 2 granddaughters Leslie Shepherd and husband Dusty of Albemarle, and Lauren Shaver and Junior Heinrich of Kannapolis, and 2 great grandsons Kobe and Kole Shepherd, and two other daughters Connie Helms and David Finch of Charlotte, and Karen Corey and husband Greg of Waxhaw.
