Samuel Bailey, Sr. - One of the oldest and best known residents of upper Rensselaer died yesterday at the home of his daughter in Albany from who's residence he was removed from the homeopathic hospital a few days ago. Mr. Bailey sustained an injury to his right leg and as the wound did not heal he was removed to the hospital, gangrene set in last Friday the relatives were notified that all hope of life had been abandoned. He was about 76 years of age and was born in Sand Lake from which he enlisted in the Civil War serving three years. He removed to Bath with his family about 30 years ago. He was a constable for the town of North Greenbush and also served for years as special officer in the Old Village. He was a member of the Private Daniel S. Corlan Post G.A.R. which organization will attend the funeral tomorrow afternoon. He is survived by a widow and several grown children and grandchildren.
