MRS. JOHN CODY OF BEVINGTON PASSES

Funeral Services Were Held Last Thursday From Blair Chapel

Bevington--(Special)--Mrs. John Cody, a resident of Bevington since pioneer days, died there at the home of her daughter, on Tuesday of last week. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Cody was the former Mary Ann Strable, daughter of Sylvester and Lucinda Strable, and was born Sept. 30, 1859 at Iowa City. When she was a small child the family moved to the vicinity of Bevington and with the exception of eight years following her marriage, the Bevington community had always been her home.

On May 2, 1880, she was married to John Cody. They were the parents of three children, all of whom survive their mother. They are William Cody of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. W. T. Lodge of Bevington, and E. P. Cody of Des Moines. The husband and father died in 1934.

In addition to the children, she leaves seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held from Blair Chapel last Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Lucius Smith of St. Charles. Burial was made in the cemetery there.
