  Mrs. Ethel Morriss Collins, 86, of Troy died at 7:20 a.m. today, April 2, 1977, in Chastain's Nursing Home, Highland.
  Mrs. Collins was a resident of Troy all her life. She was born Feb. 24, 1891, in Troy, a daughter of the late George C. and Margaret Hampton Morriss.
  She was married to John Collins on June 2, 1913, in Edwardsville. Her husband survives.
  Also surviving are a son, J. Morriss Collins of Springfield, a daughter, Mr. G.A. (Millie) Shaffer of Troy, sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Gladys) Pate and Mrs. Viola Edwards, both of Granite City, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
  Mrs. Collins was a retired school teacher. During her career, she taught at the Troy, Maple Grove, Quivive and Maryville schools.
  She was a member of the Merry Workers of the Troy Presbyterian Church.
  As tentatively arranged, visitation will be after 11 a.m. Sunday at the Edwards Funeral Home, Troy.
  A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Oliver Chumchal of the Troy Presbyterian Church, officiating.
  Burial will be in Friendens Cemetery, Troy.

Pallbearers were Armin Keck, Ralph Keck, Ray Matthews, Robert Matthews, Allen Holloway and Alfred Auwarter.
