TULSA, Okla. — Donna Bowen, 54, of Kearney, Neb., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Cancer Treatment Center in Tulsa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kearney Evangelical Free Church with the Rev. Tim Peterson officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Franklin (Neb.) Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born May 19, 1960, in Franklin to Andrew and Beulah (Diener) Bowen.
Survivors include her brother, Jerry Bowen of Kearney; sister, Andrea Barker of Minden, Neb.; nieces and nephew, Karli Loschen of Kearney, Kasey Loschen and wife, Jennifer, of Franklin and Kristi Dorsey and husband, Erin, of Arcadia, Neb.; and grandnieces and grandnephews, Alexis Loschen, Lola Loschen, Olivia Loschen, Lena Loschen, Lindy Loschen, Amelia Loschen, Kale Dorsey and Elliott Dorsey.
She grew up in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1978. Donna followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother at age 15 when she started her nursing journey at the Franklin Nursing Home. Donna graduated in 1979 from Central Technical Community College of Practical Nursing. A few months later, she began working as a licensed practical nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
In 1995, she also began working with the WIC program. At the time of her death, Donna continued to be a valuable employee of both Good Samaritan Hospital and WIC. Donna worked as a nurse for 35 years. In her many years of nursing, she was blessed to be surrounded by countless patients and staff, many of whom became lifelong friends and extended family.
She attended Kearney eFree Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her mother and brother-in-law, Danny Loschen.
