Jane M. Jacob, 89, of 900 South Michael Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 8, 2014, at her home.

She was born October 2, 1924 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Vincent C. and Frances Schaberl O’Sullivan. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1942, and a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having worked as a cadet nurse during WWII. She then worked at the former Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital and was hired as the first nurse at the St. Joseph’s Convent.

On February 14, 1950 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Robert E. Jacob, who preceded her in death on November 4, 2000.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kate Jacob (Leon Alder) of Abingdon, VA; two sons, Timothy J. Jacob (Sue) of Youngstown, OH and Mark S. Jacob (Tammy) of St. Marys; two daughters-in-law, Amy Jacob of St. Marys and Debbie Jacob of St. Marys; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Gerschutz, Stephen Jacob, Joseph Jacob, Vincent Jacob, Rebecca Alder, Jillian Alder, Christopher Alder, Gregory Alder, Erin Jacob, and Michael Jacob; two great grandchildren, Ava Gerschutz and Andrew Gerschutz; and a brother, James L. Amacher (Barb) of Akron, OH.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Alan Jacob on April 11, 1998; and two brothers, Patrick O’Sullivan and Ivan J. Herzing.

Mrs. Jacob was a member of the Queen of the World Church and the St. Marys Nurses’ Study Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday evening, August 11, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
