Aged Woman Died Here Thursday

Mrs. Almira Childers, For Many Years a Citizen of This County, Died in Edina at Home of Son.

Mrs. Almira J. Childers died here Thanksgiving evening at the advanced age of 86 years, 11 months and 29 days. For a number of years she had made her home with a son, Ota S. Beard, at whose home she died.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. S. E. Botsford and interment was made in the Linville cemetery.

Mrs. Childers was born in Indiana and in early life came with her parents, "Uncle Billy" and "Aunt Kitty" Bline, to Missouri. She married Ira Beard in 1865 and to the home came two children, Mrs. Emina A. Mumford of Rutledge and Ota S. Beard of Edina. Mr. Beard died and later she married Oliver Childers, who also died many years ago.

She was one of nine children. Three brothers, Enoch, Charles and Ashbury and two sisters, Mattie Bline and a twin sister, Mrs. Charles A. Lewis, have preceded her. She is survived by two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also by two sisters, Mrs. Hester Mauck of Plainview, Neb., and Mrs. Mary Scott of Knowler, Okla., and a brother, Jasper Blines of Kahoka.

Mrs. Childers was converted and united with the M. E. Church in her youth and lived a Christian life. She was of a kindly disposition and did much good. She was very devoted to her aged parents until their death. Many loved her and she will be missed and long remembered, especially by her son and family who have given her such tender care during her declining years.
