Connie Thornton July 29, 1940 - Aug. 5, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Connie L. Thornton (Claeys Huber), 74, passed away at 12:00 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at the West Bend Nursing Home, South Bend. Connie was born on July 29, 1940, in Chicago, IL, and adopted by her parents, Charles and Lillian (Kanczuzewski) Claeys, and has been a lifelong resident of this area. The joy of her life was spending time with her family and friends, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and watching old Western movies. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christiana Jensen, and her grandson, Jonathan Hobart. Connie is survived by her daughters, Mariteres (Mike) Huber-Hopp of Ft. Myers, FL, Laurie Hobart of Redding, CA, Lisa Scott of Mishawaka and Michelle (Michael) Peters of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Aguayo of Hanover, MA, David (Kaylene) Zahasky of Juneau, AK, Melissa (Tim) Holcomb of Columbus, GA, Jennifer Hobart of Redding, CA, Rachel Peters and Griffin Peters, both of Mishawaka; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Aguayo and Gabrielle Aguayo, both of Hanover, MA. A Memorial Mass for Connie L. Thornton will be held at 5:30 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, 5215 Holy Cross Parkway, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Outreach.
