Melody Lynn Williams of Cheboygan, 47 years young, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at McLaren-Northern Michigan in Petoskey, surrounded by her family and friends.
A lifelong resident of the area, Melody was born December 27, 1966 in Howell, the adopted daughter of the world’s most caring parents, Gene and Kathy (Bohn) St. Antoine of Cheboygan. She was welcomed home by her older brother Kelly St. Antoine and later joined by her sister Jolynn LaLond (St. Antoine). She came from a large family and had love in her heart for each and every one of them. In the spring of 1982 Melody started dating her high school sweetheart Dale Williams and the couple were married on June 21, 1985, and would spend the 28 years together as much in love as they were as kids riding their bikes to go see one another. Melody and Dale were blessed with two children, Dale (Vivanne) Williams, II, of Box Elder, South Dakota, and Nickolas (fiancée, Brianna) Williams of Mountain Home, Idaho, who in turn blessed their parents with three beautiful grandchildren, Dale Jr’s daughter, Kaitlyn (Melody’s little twin), and Nick’s son and daughter, Connor and Jullian. Seeing Melody with her grandchildren was like watching magic, her eyes would be brighter, her smile would widen, and she truly had a glow about her. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her love. She was always “all in” when it came to the children. Watching Melody raise Dale and Nick was truly wonderful. Melody devoted her life to her children, always ensuring they were happy, healthy, and fun loving. It was always the details that made her special, like all the holiday decorations, Christmas being her favorite. Stickers on your box or a simple post it note saying I love you. In addition to her love for her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed flowers, cross stitching, spending time or talking with the girls where she worked for the last 14 years, Cheboygan Lumber, and her newest found sport, four wheeling and boating. Melody and Dale’s last moment together was telling each other “I love you” and sealed with a kiss, just like they did every day for 28 years. You will be sadly missed, but never alone and never forgotten. I love you, Dale. Melody leaves behind her husband, Dale, two sons, Dale and Nickolas, a brother, Kelly, a sister, Jolynn, her parents, her father and mother in law, Dean and Dee Williams, all of Cheboygan, nieces Abbi, who is Melody’s little travel partner, Natasha, Casey, and Nina, as well as countless additional aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Margarette St. Antoine, and Charles and Agnes Bohn, and an uncle, Larry Bohn.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Riggsville. Rev. Paul Megge officiated; burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
