Etsel Ellsworth (Red) Leach, 74, of Davisville, formerly of Williamstown, went home on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, to be with his Lord and Savior after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for almost four years. He passed at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was an inspiration to many people during his time of sickness.

Red was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Wood County, a son of the late Lawrence and Goldie Lyons Leach of Mineral Wells. He retired from Chemical Leaman Tank Lines and was a 1950 Parkersburg High School graduate. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and former member of Big Tygart United Methodist Church. Red loved to go camping, fishing, going to Florida for the winter and especially loved spending time with his family. He was an avid Williamstown sports fan and enjoyed watching his grandsons play football and baseball. He also loved spending time with his granddaughter in Florida. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years and his devoted caregiver these past four years, Phyllis Snyder Leach. Red is also survived by three daughters, Debbie (Dave) Schiller of Belpre, Terri (Rich) Patterson of Jupiter, Fla., and Regina Leach of Davisville; one son Mike (Ruth) Leach of Williamstown; two sisters, Margaret (Tom) Batten and Betty (Bill) Tuell of Mineral Wells; several nieces and nephews; and very close friends, Mark and Amy Smith of Williamstown. He is also survived by the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Brett Leach, Jessica Patterson, and Mike Schiller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Leach; and several aunts and uncles.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 512 Fifth St., Parkersburg, where the funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Jeff Mayfield and the Rev. James Burdette will officiate. Burial will follow at the Independence Cemetery at Sandyville in Jackson County.
