FIVE POINTS, AL – James Gordon Crowder, Sr of Five Points, 84, died Wednesday, August 3, 1994 at Randolph County Hospital in Roanoke.
Services for Mr. Crowder were at Five Points Baptist Church on Thursday, August 4, 1994 at 3 p.m., with interment in Five Points Cemetery. Officiating ministers were Rev. Herbert Howard and Rev. Vernon Brown.
Born in Chambers County on January 27, 1910, he was a lifelong resident of Chambers County and a member of Five Points Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and substitute mail carrier and was a school bus driver for 19 years.
Survivors include his wife, Eilene Crowder of Five Points; one son, Dr. John Crowder of Five Points; three sisters, Lillie C. Brown of Roanoke, Evelyn C. Turner of Dallas, TX, and Janet C. Awbrey of Gainesville, FL; and two step-grandchildren, Katy Hester of Five Points, and Will Hester of Five Points.
Pallbearers were Fuller Alsobrook, Cecil Crenshaw, Dawson Day, Dewey Stephens, Stanley Sellers and Tom Morgan.
Sanders Funeral Home of LaFayette was in charge of arrangements.
