Eugene E. "Gene" Leach, 63, of Vienna, died March 21, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in Wood County. He was a 1952 graduate of Parkersburg High School and had attended Parkersburg Community College and Marietta College. He had been employed by the A&P Store in Parkersburg. He also had worked for Remington Rand-Sperry Univac Co. in Marietta and had been a realtor with Century 21 in Parkersburg. He retired from E.I. Dupont Co. in 1996, after 18 years of service. He was a volunteer with the Vienna Rescue Police. He was past president of Vienna Kawanis Club. He was an avid Marshall University football fan and enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, woodworking and crafts with his wife.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mary L. Spear Leach of Vienna; three sons, Gregory E. Leach of Columbus, Ohio, Douglas E. Leach of Parkersburg and Roger A. Leach of Huntington, W.Va.; one brother, Etsel Leach of Florida; two sisters, Betty J. Tuell and Margaret J. Batten, both of Mineral Wells; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Goldie Lyons Leach.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, the Rev. G. Frank Plybon officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and noon-1 p.m. Wednesday.
