Mabel Marie Clark was born on February 11, 1918, in Des Moines, Iowa. She was the only child of Joseph James and Cecil Maude (Kilmer) Clark. Mabel attended School in the Yale, Iowa Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1936. Mabel married Al Randolf and he was tragically killed in a train accident. She later married Louis Polak and he also passed. In later years, Mabel found love once again and was united in marriage to Louis Kunch on September 15, 2007, at St Henry Catholic’s Church. Mabel lived in Marshalltown her entire life and retired from Marshalltown Instruments after 27 years of faithful service. Mabel loved to volunteer in many nursing homes and was known as the “Sock Monkey Lady” because of her monkey puppet. Mabel was a member of St Henry’s Catholic Church and the Local #873 Union in Marshalltown.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Louis Kunch, of Marshalltown, Iowa.
In death Mabel rejoins her husbands, Al and Louis, and her infant daughter, Nikki Ann.
A Memorial Funeral Mass for Mabel Kunch, 96, of Marshalltown, was held at 10:30 a.m., at St. Henry’s Catholic Church on Friday, October 17, 2014 with Father Don Czapla officiating.
Guests were present from Iowa River Hospice, Grandview Nursing Home, Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center, United Bank and Trust, Fisher Controls, Marshalltown Instruments/Marshalltown Manufacturing, and St. Henry’s Catholic Church. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with caring for Mabel and her family.
