Don Dick passed away at his home in Fresno. He was born to the late Donald J. and Elsie Dick in Fresno, CA.
Don graduated from Fresno High School in 1951.
After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Denver, Fairbanks, Riverside and Topeka.
While in Denver, he married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Jean Rose, on May 3, 1952.
Don returned to Fresno after his service and went back to work in his father's plumbing and heating business. Don was tasked with developing the air conditioning side of the business and cherished the challenge. On April 1, 1964, "Mr. Cool" was created. Building on what he had learned, Don started Donald P. Dick Air Conditioning on September 1, 1970.
In 1994, he bought a second home in Santa Cruz, CA and started enjoying his retirement. Don loved travel, visiting with friends, and watching his company grow. He was very proud of all those who were part of the "Mr. Cool" family as well as his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Rose Dick; brother, Norman J. Dick; and son, David P. Dick.
He is survived by his sisters, Elsie Lamborn, and Marion Griffin, both of Fresno; his children, James B. Dick, Patricia Dick Enmark, Deborah Dick Scott, and Jeffrey D. Dick; his grandchildren, David Dick, Daniel Klatt, Nicholas Scott, Timothy Dick, Daniel Dick, Derek Scott, Nathaniel Scott, Caitlyn Dick, Samuel Enmark, and Sarah Dick; His great-grandchildren, Ryan Scott, Madison Dick, Sydney Dick, Kelsey Scott, Benjamin Scott, and Sullivan Scott.
A Celebration of Don's life will be held at Wedgewood, 4584 W. Jacquelyn Ave, Fresno, CA on Monday August 11, 2014, at 12:00 noon.
