Motorcycle sidecar racer. Max Friedrich (Fritz) Scheidegger was born in Langenthal, Canton Berne, Switzerland. With Englishman John Robinson as crewman, they won the 1965 and 1966 World 500cc Sidecar Championships on their 500cc BMW sidecar outfit. In 1967, whilst leading a sidecar race at Mallory Park, Leicestershire, they crashed heavily at the Hairpin and Scheidegger was killed. Robinson broke a leg and retired from racing. Scheidegger was buried in his home town but few graves are preserved after twenty five years and his was removed. (Since writing this, I've been contacted by the Swiss Embassy in London and informed that because of Scheidegger's prominence as a World Champion, his headstone has been reinstated).
