He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Easton. He had been a CPA and senior partner at Chester Kearney Co. in Presque Isle for many years. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He was a member of the board of trustees of Houghton College in Houghton, NY., a former director of the Aroostook Home Care Agency in Presque Isle and a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club. Besides his mother of Easton, he is survived by his wife, Helen (Benn) Carlson, 2 sons, James of Gorham and John of Mars Hill, a daughter, Jeanne Carlson of Easton, 1 brother, Chester of Portage, a sister, Hazel Hackett of Holden, MA., 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Burial Estes Park cemetery.
