Jane Joyce Brown, 96, passed August 2, 2014 surrounded by four generations of loving family members.

Jane was born August 6, 1917 in Choska, Oklahoma, on a dairy farm, where she spent her childhood with her two brothers and two sisters. Even as a child, she knew she wanted to be a nurse and pursued her life-long goal by starting nursing school the very day after she graduated from high school. She spent 30 years bringing new life into this world and often recounted stories of the blessings she found in her career.

Jane loved to dance, watch rodeos, and root on the Dallas Cowboys but above all, her favorite activity was sharing the first waltz of each Saturday night with her life dancing partner and husband, Glen Brown. Jane raised two daughters who preceded her in death, Sue Parnell Schwahn and Edra Parnell Schwahn.

Jane spent the last five years in Sevier County, Tennessee at Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center where she developed incredible friendships and spent time with her family. She was known for her quick wit, spirit, and compassion for the many children who would come to visit.

A true beauty from her perfectly styled, silver curls to her heart of gold, Jane served as an exemplary citizen of this earth to all who knew her. She is survived by four generations of loving family members and life-long friends. Jane will be laid to rest beside her husband Glen in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, Texas.

There will be a graveside service, on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
