Mrs. Bertha Mae Bowen, 76, of Raleigh died Monday, Feb. 11, at Smith County Hospital in Raleigh. The Smith County native was a member of Cohay Holiness Church and a housewife. Services were conducted Feb. 13 at Raleigh Jesus Name Holiness Church with Rev. Bobby Ivy, Rev. James Ray Easterling and Rev. David L. Watts officiating. Smith County Funeral Home Chapel was in charge of arrangements and burial was at Merchants Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, Mr. Pat Bowen of Raleigh; four daughters: Mrs. Annie Merle Windham, of Raleigh; Mrs. Dixie Boarman, of Moss Point; Mrs. Effie Lou Handy, of Houston, Tex.; and Mrs. Betty Sue Wallace, of Raleigh; two sons: Mr. Rayford Bowen and Mr. Shirley Wayne Bowen, both of Raleigh; one sister: Mrs. Polly Hosey, of Magee; 25 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
