Thelma Bates age 91, formerly of Crystal City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Fieser Nursing Center in Fenton, Missouri. She was born August 14, 1922 in Stafford, Kansas, the daughter of the late Lydia C. (nee Everett) and Claude L. Randall.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence H. Bates, a son Lloyd G. (Carol survives of Herculaneum, Missouri) Bates, a sister Mary E. Cobb, brothers C. Loren and Bobby Randall and grandchildren Bobby Lynn and Candi Lynn Bates.
She is survived by sons Larrie R. Bates of Festus, Missouri and Lindell L. (Sheila) Bates of St. Louis, Missouri, grandchildren Greg, Dale and Erika Bates and Dealonna (the late Tim) Statzel, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Selma Baptist Church of Festus, a Stanley Products representative for 25 years, a former Girl and Boy Scouts of America leader, COMTREA volunteer and local organizer for "Care-and-Share" program of the Missouri alliance for the mentally ill.
