Mrs. James was a homemaker and spent her life as a caregiver to her children, which she cherished, and later was a caregiver to her disabled husband for 18 years. She served her community by collecting for the American Heart Association, Cancer Society and always collected from the neighborhood when someone was sick or passed away. She was a strong Methodist and Democrat. She believed in and practiced treating others how you would want to be treated. “Louise” loved to laugh and make others laugh. Her favorite hobby was crewel embroidery and she furnished all her family and friends with her craft.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Ray James and wife Peggy of Hickory and Rev. Tommy L. James and wife Jennifer of Burnsville; one daughter, Linda Andrews and husband Larry of Lenoir; one brother, Franklin Perkins; one sister, Peggy Pruitt ; six grandchildren, Wesley Huff, Carla Huff Jenkins, Landon and Layton Andrews, and Tiffany and Steven James; and one great-grandchild, Jaylan Jenkins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Uiyeon Kim and Rev. Joe Parker. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
