William Bentley married second, the twice widowed Phoebe Paine. She first married Seth Covel, by whom she had four children and second married Samuel Munro, Jr. by whom she had 5 or 6 children. On Oct. 15, 1799, William murdered Phoebe with an ax and was sentenced to hang on Oct. 10, 1800. He reportedly died from an inflammation of the bladder and kidneys on Sept. 20, 1800.
