Lonnie Jefferson Sims Jr., age 89, of Sheridan, passed away, Friday, August 8, 2014 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born June 13, 1925 in Sarepta, Louisiana to the late Lonnie Jefferson Sims Sr. and Myrtle King Husley. Mr. Sims served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a body shop manager with Ford Automotive for forty years, before retiring in 1981. In 1998, Mr. Sims moved to Sheridan from Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a 1943 Springhill High School graduate, member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan, retired deacon of Koran Baptist Church in Koran, Louisiana, and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Sims enjoyed spending time at his lake house, which was the second love of his life, at Lake Bistineau in Elm Grove, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Geraldine Wilburn; and step-father, C.L. Hulsey.
