Let's go back about the year 1913.
Three men privately financed the legal costs of presenting before the voters the matter of incorporating as a village. The voters approved the question and elected a charter commission of Peterson, Olson, Kotler, Albro Gallup and Valentine Lee. On May 20, 1919, the charter prepared by the charter commissioners was approved. The first village officers were John E. Looney, president; Albro Gallup, William G. Hanson, John T. Hayes, Valentine Lee, Edward Peterson and August Thomas, trustees; Sigurd W Jacobson, clerk; William H. Looney, treasurer; and Albin Olson, assessor.
Albro Gallup was the first police officer appointed.
