Andrew A. Casp, 96, formerly of Hopewell Twp., passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Franciscan Manor.

Born on April 9, 1918 in Woodlawn, PA, a son of the late Adam and Rose (Tucker) Casp, he was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Andrew retired from J&L Steelworks where he was first a shipping clerk then a foreman in the welded tube department. He was a World War II veteran of the Tunisia, Rome-Arno and Northern Apennines Campaigns and was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. Andrew loved sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and he also enjoyed coaching little league baseball in Hopewell Twp. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards with the Circle of Friends and Nifty Fifty at Our Lady of Fatima.

In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Frank) Casp; four brothers, John, Michael, Walter and Joseph Casp; and three sisters, Catherine Watkins, Ann Kotlarz and Mary D'Agostino.

He is survived by a daughter, Andrea Kurgan and her husband John, Beaver Falls; a son, John Casp and his wife Nicole, Clinton, OH; and six grandchildren, Geoffrey J. Kurgan and Kathleen Anne Kurgan of Washington, D.C.; and Matthew, Daniel, Gabriel, and Danielle Casp, of Ohio.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the DARROCH MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 2640 Mill St., Aliquippa, where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 862, will meet at the cemetery on Saturday at 11 a.m. to conduct full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
