Brenda L. Burkett, 51, of Raleigh died Friday, August 13, 2010. Our sweet, loving Brenda continued to give life even after death with her generous gift of life to others as an organ donor.
Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
A native of Waltham, MA, Brenda was a 1978 graduate of Enloe High School and later worked as a teacher's assistant at Bugg Elementary School and Vena Wilburn Elementary School. Brenda was a dental assistant with Dr. Jim Higgins and Dr. Nicole Williams for many years.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Floyd Burkett, Jr.; sons, Joshua D. Burkett and Brandon M. Burkett of the home; granddaughter, Madison Burkett; parents, Joan and Jimmy Gay of Raleigh; brothers, Brian Gay of Knightdale, Wayne Gay of Raleigh, Jamie Gay (Kate) of Clayton; mother in-law, Sarah Straughn of Wendell, step father in-law Randy Straughn of Wendell; father in-law, Floyd Burkett, Sr. of Knightdale; grandmother in-law, Edna Taylor of Kinston; brothers in-law, Frederick M. Burkett and Billy Joe Burkett, both of Georgia; sister in-law, Pamela Jane Yarborough (Jack) of Gastonia as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and special friends, Betty and Sonya Tolley and Joyce, Patrick and Crystal Catherwood.
