WORLD WAR II
The son of "Ed" Thurman and Amy Johnson. Nicknamed "Pete," He was handsome and a kind man. I have fond memories of Pete when I was a child. His dad, Ed and step-mother, Allie Mae Smith Thurman were our neighbors (his step-mother was my first cousin). Pete worked out of town on the pipeline. When he came home to visit, my brother James & I , being kids, always went to see him. On summer evenings everyone sat on the front porch. He always gave us chewing gum. He & Ed told interesting stories to entertain us. We also enjoyed playing with their dog, "Ring." James and I would walk up the hill to our home before it got dark.
