VAN BUREN LOSES FINE MEN
CHARLES MATLOCK
Death claimed well-known Van Buren man this week, Charles Matlock, 82, of 111 Cane Hill, Van Buren, died Monday at a Fayetteville, Arkansas hospital.

A member of the Van Buren First Baptist Church, he retired as chief in 1957 from the Van Buren Fire Department and was an alderman from January 1958 through 1976. He also was a past commander of the America Legion in Van Buren, a former head of the local draft board office, a Mason and a World War I veteran.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, two sisters, one brother, and two granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday November 1, 1979 at 11 a.m. in Ocker Memorial Chapel with Rev. Merl Walker officiating. Burial was in Gracelawn Cemetery.

Memorials were designated to the Paramedic Unit of the fire department.
