Ruth Fay Gordon, 79, of Odessa, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital of Blue Springs. She was born Dec. 23, 1918, southwest of Odessa, and had been an Odessa resident all her life.

She had been a bookkeeper for J.B. Hereford Clothing Store, Thomas Ford Motor Co. of Odessa, Lake City Arsenal during World War II, and a dance instructor for the Arthur Murry Dance Studio, Kansas City.

She was a 1937 graduate of Odessa High School and Missouri State Teacher's College, Warrensburg.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, A.F. "Bud" Gordon in 1979 and Leland Sanders in 1942.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Odessa.

Her survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jim Grechus of St. Joseph, MO; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rosalie Gordon of Kauai, HI; two step-daughters and one stepson-in-law, Elizabeth and Anthony Turpin of Oak Harbor, WA; and Georgia Simpson of Orland, FL; one granddaughter; four step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Services were today at the Ralph O. Jones Chapel, Odessa.

Burial was in the Odessa Cemetery.
