Karl was the eldest brother to Irene Yakumithis Diakonis, John Emmanuel Yakumithis, and Michael Emmanuel Yakumithis.
Karl graduated from Woodward High School in Toledo, Ohio in 1939.
Karl married the love of his life, Virginia Mae Reser on January 9, 1942, in Henry County, Ohio. Together they had two sons: Emmanuel (Manuel) Karl Yakumithis and George Paul Yakumithis
Karl served in WWII for the Army Air Corps from February 16, 1942, until his honorable discharge on November 17, 1945. During his service, he was trained and worked as an airplane propeller mechanic specializing in B-17s. He spent time in Texas, Cuba, Trinidad, Puerto Rico, and Nebraska.
Together with his wife, he owned and operated the Baltimore Cafe in Toledo, Trailways Grill Restaurant in Cleveland, a Refrigeration Company, and several rental properties.
Karl was a happy and loving man. Aside from his work he enjoyed his Greek heritage, tinkering with machines and new technology, and spending time with his family.
Karl died suddenly on April 29, 1974, in Toledo, Ohio, at the age of 53. He is buried beside his wife, Virginia, at Forest Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio.
