In the 1930's Marian lived on the Starr Farm about 6 miles north of Elkhart where her father, Roy, was a well-known manager of a prize herd of registered Guernsey cattle owned by Andrew "Hub" Beardsley former chairman of Miles Laboratories.
Marian was trained as a surgical nurse at the Elkhart General Hospital and continued to serve the community as a registered nurse after she married Waldo "Soapy" Ehret on Nov. 22,1940 in Cass County, MI. She spent the rest of her life on the family dairy farm near Union, MI
Marian taught Sunday school at several Pentecostal churches around Elkhart. She enjoyed gardening, raising calves, chickens, and helping those that were less-fortunate in life.
