Born Oct. 9, 1906, in Peoria to Joseph and Rose Greenstein Solomon, he married Lillian Smith on March 21, 1936, in Chicago. She died on July 3, 1963, in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He worked for 42 years at the Kroger warehouse in East Peoria, retiring as manager in January 1969. He was a charter member and served as the first president of the KEMBA Credit Union.
He was a charter member of the Transportation Club, where he was past president and active in its bowling league, and a member and past president of the Peoria-Pekin Shippers.
He was a member of Schiller Lodge 335, AF&AM; 50-year member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria; and a 50-year member of the Mohammed Temple, Shrine, Peoria.
He was a member of the Peoria Senior Golfers and a life member of the Peoria Casting Club.
He also was a member of Congregation Anshai Emeth, Agudas Achim Synagogue and B'nai B'rith, all in Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and graveside memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, Rabbi Michael Arsers officiating. There will be no visitation. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
