Jasper Dioris Knox, son of Josiah (Si) [sic] Knox and Margaret Smith Knox, was born September 13, 1868, in Clinton Township, Decatur County and was one of nine children. Margaret Smith Knox died at an early age and Josiah placed the children with relatives and went west. For several years Jasper (Jap) traveled for American Steel and Wire Company, also Sawin and Knox Wire Company. Later he farmed north of Sandusky. At the time of his death, he operated a service station at the south edge of Sandusky. He died February 28, 1934, and a funeral was held March 1st at the Sandusky ME Church. He is buried in South Park Cemetery.

Note: Jasper's grave marker has the date of death as February 27, 1934.

Funeral Services Held Thursday Afternoon for Jasper D. Knox, 1 Age 63.
HAD BEEN INVALID FOR PAST 5 YEARS

Funeral services were held at the Sandusky, M. E. church Thursday afternoon for Jasper D. Knox, age 63, a native of Rush County and a well-known resident of Sandusky, who died suddenly at his home Tuesday evening. Five years ago, Mr. Knox suffered a paralytic stroke which had left him an invalid for a long time although he recovered sufficiently to operate a filling station. He died in ten minutes after suffering a second stroke. Funeral services were in charge of Rev. G. C. Housman with burial at South Park cemetery, Greensburg. The deceased was a son of Josiah and Margaret (Smith) Knox and was born in Rush County, Sept. 14, 1870. He came to the Sandusky community when a youth and "had lived there ever since, except five years in Greensburg when he traveled for the American Steel Wire Co. He was a member of the Sandusky M. E. church, the K. of P. lodge in Greensburg and was a member of the Greensburg Commandery of Knights Templar Masons. He was married June 6, 1901, to Elma Roszell, who with a daughter, Miss Lillian, a teacher, in the Sandusky school, survive. Two brothers, John and Will, in Kansas, survive .
