Mrs. Marcella Duncan Ward 78, of Whiteville died Saturday, December 11, 2010 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1932 in Columbus County, the daughter of the late Willie and Sally Little Duncan. She was a graduate of Southeastern General Nursing School where she received her RN degree and received training at UNC Chapel Hill. She taught CNA classes at Southeastern Community College. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Burmey Ward; a daughter Paula "PJ" Ward Clifton and husband, Greg, of Whiteville; four grandchildren, Ashley Ward, Chase, Jacob and Isabella Clifton; two sisters, Macie Duncan King of Whiteville, Shirley Duncan McCleney and husband, Hubert, of Chadbourn. She was preceded in death by three sisters, the late Margaret Duncan Davis, Sadie Duncan Penny and Bonnie Duncan Bryant; two brothers, the late Bill and Bob Duncan. Her funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Church of God by Rev. Robbie Strickland and Rev. Hubert McCleney.
