Walter Lee Anderson TULIA - Walter Lee Anderson was born March 17, 1938. He died Aug. 1, 2014. He was 76 years, 4 months, 15 days old. His parents were Dave and Bernice Anderson. He was raised at Vigo Park. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1957. Walter married Patricia (Pat) Sims on Valentine's Day 1960. They raised three children. Pat preceded Walter in death Oct. 14, 1995. Mr. Anderson worked for Mid-Plains Rural Telephone Co-op for 38 years, the record for the longest tenure at Mid-Plains. He was an installer/repairman for Redmon, Bean and Kress. Walter was known for his work and dedication. He was extremely dependable. Walter was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was involved in church activities. He was active in Senior Citizens, both in Tulia and Plainview. Walter was a Christian, a strong family man, hard worker, farmer, "telephone man," friend, son, husband, dad, uncle and grandfather. He enjoyed camping, traveling and working in his shop. He and Pat also enjoyed square dancing and round dancing with the Shirts and Skirts. They were involved in scouting when the kids were young. He was the family's "go to" guy that could fix anything. He led his family by example, showing his children honesty and integrity. He often said we should take each day as it comes and make the best of it. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones. Mr. Anderson is survived by his three children, Belinda Mollan and her husband Walter, Teresa Jackson and Carl Anderson; his two grandsons, J.J. Jackson and Mason Lee Anderson; his four sisters, Hazel Pofahl of Plainview, Donna Anderson and Wanda Gamble, both of Amarillo, Rita McCollum and husband Mike of Tulia; mother-in-law Marie Sims and brother-in-law Steve Sims, both of Logan, N.M.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia. Burial will be at Milo Cemetery. The family suggests memorials/donations be made to Milo Cemetery.
