Ruhama was a daughter of Jabez Brooks Jr. and Abigail Johnson. She was born June 1, 1744, and baptized on the 10th of June, according to the records of the First Congregational Church of Middletown.
She married Ebenezer Bivins (sometimes spelled Bevins, Bevin, or Bivin) at Middletown, on May 15, 1777.
Ruhama, wife of Ebenezer "Bevin," is mentioned in land transactions involving her father's land holdings in the South Farms area of Middletown.
Ruhama died at Middletown on March 23, 1804. As shown on her death record, her body was taken to the home of her half-brother, Capt. Jabez Brooks. She was buried at Old Farm Hill cemetery.
Ebenezer lost no time in remarrying. He took Lucy Weston as his second wife on April 14, 1804, in a ceremony at Middletown. The couple then moved to Tolland County, Connecticut, where they helped pioneer the town of Vernon. Lucy died March 25, 1816, and Ebenezer died March 27, 1819. They are buried at Southwest (formerly Old Dobsonville) cemetery in Vernon.
