He was a janitor at a school. He died at Baptist Hospital of apoplexy contributed by arteriosclerosis and high blood pressure. Note: his DOB is given as Sept. 10 1875 which is not consistent with census records which put his birth closer to that on his grave marker. For this reason, the date on his grave marker will be used for his memorial. His day of death used for the memorial is that on his death certificate, not that on his grave marker.
