Kathryn Elizabeth Sutton age 96 of Washington, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the McCreedy Home following a broken hip and brief illness.

Funeral Services will 1:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Beatty Funeral Home with Don Collings presiding. Interment will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM Sunday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family is purchasing a memory flag for the Avenue of Flags at the Elm Grove Cemetery. Kathryn and Lewis enjoyed driving thru watching the flags blow in the wind.

Kathryn was born October 4, 1915 to Elmer Katie McCluskey McCoy in Ottumwa, Iowa where she was raised on the century family farm and enjoyed helping with the animals, the chores, gardening, canning, quilting and especially riding in her brother's airplane. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1934. Kathryn married Lewis Sutton on May 29, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. They lived in Lockridge for over 30 years, where they owned and operated the Locker Plant. Her biggest passions were her grandchildren, watching the birds, reading, her garden and the beautiful flowers she raised. Lewis and Kathryn retired to Washington in 1992 to be close to their son Dwight and their Grandchildren, they had over 60 wonderful years together.

Kathryn moved in with her son Dwight and Daughter-in-law Nancy in 2005, where she enjoyed her Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, the Yorkies that lived their especially her baby Sofie and watching the birds and squirrels eat and play. Our many thanks to the McCreedy Home where she moved in May of 2011. She was very happy and recieved excellent care from the McCreedy staff, Hospice and the Washington County Ambulance.

She is survived by her son Dwight, daughter in law Nancy, Grandchildren, Jason and Melody, Jereme, Danielle, Sean and JB, 6 Great-grandchildren Ashley, Kasey, Taylor, Tyler, Brandi and Trevor, 2 Great-great-granddaughters Kaylee and Elle, Nieces & Nephew Virginia, Lloyal and Linda, their families and sister-in-law Marie.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lewis, her parents, sibling's Rosie, Freeman, Erwin, Vernon, sister-in-law Viola, brother-in-laws David, Wayne, Kenny and Johnny.
