Mr. Charles Elbert Steitler, 70, died at 11:10 P.M. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Copan United Methodist Church with Pastor Warren Peck officiating, under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Charles Elbert Steitler was born March 27, 1944 at Orange, Texas to Clifford J. and Vern E. (Williams) Steitler. He was raised and received his education in Dewey, Oklahoma graduating high school there in 1963. Mr. Steitler entered the U.S. Army in 1965 and received his honorable discharge in 1967. He was married to Margaret Askew on December 17, 1965 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. After his military service Mr. Steitler was employed with REDA Pump Company from 1967 to his retirement in 1999. He later worked for Hinkle Mowing from 2000 to 2013.

Mr. Steitler was a member of the Copan United Methodist Church, was a former member of the Copan City Council, Copan Volunteer Fire Department and a life member of the Copan FFA.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Steitler of the family home in rural Dewey; one son Charles E. "Chuck" Steitler Jr. and his wife Leslie of Frisco, Texas; one daughter Carri D. Moore and her husband Wes of Weatherford, Texas; his mother Vern E. Steitler of Dewey; one brother James Steitler of Dewey; one sister Billie Reynolds and her husband Gary of Claremore, Oklahoma; six grandchildren Wyatt and Garrett Moore, Corbin, Piper, and Wylie Steitler, Kurtis Hassler and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Steitler was preceded in death by his father Clifford J. Steitler and a sister Evlyn Steitler. Mr. Steitler's family would like to thank the River Cross Hospice personnel for their kindness in caring for him and the family
