On Monday, August 4, 2014, after a long illness, Victoria left her earthly body and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Victoria had a strong faith in the Lord, and was a devout Christian. As she looks down upon us, she would want everyone reading this to know that they can also go to Heaven when they die by putting their faith and trust in Jesus. She loved reading the bible, and quoting her favorite verse, John 3:16, where Jesus says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that WHOSOEVER believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." Elsewhere it says that" WHOSOEVER calls upon the name of The Lord shall be saved."

The "Whosoever" in these verses can be you!!! The message of the Gospel that "Jesus Saves" was the central theme of her life.

Victoria was born May 18, 1954 in South Bend and was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1972. She later obtained her degree in Nursing from Indiana University, South Bend, and became a "psych certified nurse" and practiced at Madison Center. She formerly worked as the sales and business manager for Curtis Mathis in Ohio, and was the public relations manager for the NPR Blues Society in the late 1990's. Victoria loved to dance and had a passion for life that always made others smile. She enjoyed the little things in life like watching movies, making crafts, and arranging flowers.
Surviving are her daughters, Michelle (Terry) Lin of Spokane, Washington and Angela (Roberto) Santos of Clarksville, Tennessee. Also surviving is her father, Rudy Yakym Sr. of South Bend and her brothers; Rudy (Lorraine) Yakym Jr. of South Bend, Chuck (Jenny) Yakym of Mishawaka, Steve (Linda) Yakym of Mishawaka, and Jim Yakym of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Ann (Kline) Yakym and her brother, Frank Yakym.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4-8 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 3:00 pm funeral service on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Chapel Hill with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Reverend Michael Cramer of New Life Church will officiate.
